The manly men of The Lumber Yard engaged in the caber toss. Tossing cabers makes the men's muscles stand out and the women stand around admiringly.

For a toss to be successful, the caber has to continue over after its end hits the ground. J's toss did this, and he credits his success with Ethan's good instruction. He ought to know, he has a kilt and a sheep. He made J take off his hippie sarong top because it wasn't manly enough.

Later that day a woman seated at a roadside camp called out to admire J's top as we passed by, so he liked it again.
